Priority Issues for the MMLAP

  • Awareness - To raise awareness in the Murray Mallee community of the need for long term land management solutions
  • Sustainable Production - To increase gross margins of Mallee farming systems within land capability
  • Biodiversity - To protect and enhance native vegetation communities in the Murray Mallee and the native species they support
  • Erosion Control - To reduce the erosion of topsoil caused by wind
  • Water - To encourage sustainable use of the groundwater resources of the Murray Mallee and minimise irrigation drainage impacts, and to reduce groundwater recharge in the Murray Mallee
  • Climate Change - To raise awareness of the impact of climate change on natural resources and Mallee farming systems

Committee Members

The MMLAP committee is made up entirely of community members who live and work within the region.  All committee members are volunteers who invest their valuable time and energy into the effective management, development and promotion of the LAP's activities and achievements. Collectively, the committee members have considerable knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of natural resource management issues.
